Puppy for Adoption
So yeah. I sort of rescued a puppy.

He was chained up with no shelter, food, or water, and I never once saw anyone come near enough to touch him.

So I took him (with permission).

But the pound won't take him- they claim he's got pit in him. Now, I own a half-pit. This puppy does not have enough pit in him to be worth mentioning. He's a lab mix. He's got a little Boxer look to his face, but he's not a pit bull.

But what that means is that he needs a home, and fast. I'm not home enough for a puppy, and neither is Chris. We both work 12-14 hours a day, and all the local rescues are completely full-up. I don't know what to do- I can't put him out on the street, but no one can take him.

He's rapidly getting crate-trained, about 3 mos old, and I got him wormed and rabies vac'd. He's put on a good bit of weight already, and already looks healthy. He's a really good puppy, I just don't have the time to train a puppy. He's already halfway leash-trained (20 mins in B&B PetStop and he was walking next to me 80% of the time) and is rapidly getting toward housetrained after only 2 days. He's not a chewer, good with other dogs, cats, and every human being we've introduced him to.

Help, please?

what a little sweetie!
have you tried craigslist or freecycle?

He's on CRaigslist, but I've had bad experiences with Freecycle and puppies.

He is adorable :) I recognize the pit in him, too. Not much, but it's there. Why won't the pound accept pit bulls?

Owning two pit bulls, I'll say that they are great dogs when properly trained. It's too bad that all that's heard on the news are products of poor ownership. I hope somebody treats this little guy well!

I have a half-pit bull, so I understand. But the county considers all pits vicious (they were discussing legislation recently to ban pits from the county, a la Denver, CO, fortunately that got dropped) and won't adopt them out. They'd take him, but they'd euthanize him rather than adopt him out.
Y'know, because a PUPPY is inherently VICIOUS.
